The sun is finally out and so are the parties and fun events! Following our previous Selfie themed articles, I decided to do a selfie-themed post on skin care for you to help you look at your best in all those special moment captures. Filters are genius, but what if we could just be confident and show off our skin without the need of filters in photos wouldn’t that be just great?
I want to share a few tips with you so that you can prepare your skin the night before your big event, party or just any other occasion where you know you will face the camera! Let’s get our skin SELFIE-READY!
1. The Magic Exfloliation Mask:
You will need 2Tbsp honey and 1 Tbsp baking soda.
The honey nourishes your skin, reduces pores and makes your skin firm.
The baking soda exfoliates removing blackheads and dead skin, making your skin clear and glowing.(Can be done Once or twice a week).
Gently massage the mixture on your skin in circular motion leave for 15 minutes and then rince off with luke warm water.
2. The Diva Skin Mask:
You will need one egg white and 1 Tbsp lemon juice.
The egg white will give you a firmer and more even look by reducing the pores.
The lemon juice will brighten and exfloliate the skin. Apply the mask on your face, leave on skin until it dries and then wash off with warm water.
3. Intense Skin Hydration
Follow the above steps with a rich moisturizer, I have recently been using the Body Shop youth bouncy skin mask, which is super hydrating. It also contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid known for its plumping effect, edelweiss plant extracts which helps skin regeneration and caffeineto help blood circulation and deliver more oxygen to the skin.
Quickies before a click:
Dab your skin with a tissue or oil-blotting paper if you have oily skin to make sure you look dewy but not oily in your clicks. I always keep a pack of blotting papers in my purse.
A quick spray of a face mist will refresh your skin and give it a healthy glow ( you can use these over your makeup). I have listed a few of my favorites and you can also find a link to my DIY face mist
- Clinique moisture-surge face spray thirsty skin relief
- Avene thermal skin water
- Kiehl’s cactus flower & Tibetan ginseng hydrating mist
- DIY Green Tea Face Mist
- Quick fixes are life-savers but that doesn’t mean you skip the rituals:
- Always remove your makeup before sleeping. Alternate your makeup remover with coconut oil, its natural and leaves the face moisturised as well.
- Drink a lot of water and juices, keep yourself well hydrated.
- Have a good night sleep which is the time your skin repairs itself, you need good rest for your skin to look at its best
