I cannot remember the last time I actually spent a day at the beach, chilling among the sun, sand and waves. While growing up in Goa is often linked to spending time on the beaches sipping beers and cashew feni and living a sausegade life. At rare occasions do we take a break from our busy schedules and enjoy the scenic beauty of Goa.
This Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend and I decided to distance ourselves from the parties, special valentine brunches/lunches/dinners and instead spend the day at the beach. We chose a great escape spot Palolem Beach one of the most famous and beautiful beaches of Goa.
Stepping on the shore, with the blue sea and fiercely lit up sun is always a breath taking view. We spent the day at a shack (sea facing restaurant) CIARANS beautiful place with boutique cottages around lush green tropical gardens. The place served lip smacking food, reasonably priced and the terrific welcoming staff was an additional cherry on the cake.
After a great meal, chilled beers and spending quality time with each other, we headed to the shore late evening. A quick swim and thousands of pictures later, we decided to try kayaking before the sunset This is a must try and is so very affordable (200 INR per person/hour). I thought it would be exhausting, but in fact it turned out really relaxing, it was just great being surrounded with water and watching the sunset together was the perfect end to our valentine’s day.
TIPS FOR A BEACH DAY
Here are some of the things you can keep in mind to have a perfect beach day.
- Because of the long journey; keep a playlist ready for your trip. Don’t rely on the FM or online music store because of the bad reception in the area. You can also carry some light eatables and refreshments to have along the way.
- Stock your handbags- ladies we always need to look our best remember to stock your bag with these essential items, SUNSCREEN- even though tanning is inevitable, you can control it buy using a good sunscreen lotion, MOISTURIZING LOTION- after a dip in the sea you may find your skin feeling lifeless and dry, use a good moisturiser after a wash to replenish your skin, STYLISH GLARES/HATS/COVER UPS- a great way to beat the heat and look chic, LIP BALMS with spf, face cleanser and wipes.
You will require a lot more if you planning to stay over for a few days, but all you need to remember is carry your essentials, keep yourself hydrated and have the best time of your life.
Sometimes just a get away to a familiar place around your home town, can give you the break you need, a refreshing attitude and a whole lot of memories to hold on to.
