What I shopped at the souk in Marrakech.

Hello Everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I am going to share some of the things I bought in Marrakech, I made a trip almost everyday (of the five days that I was there) to the souk Jemma El Fnaa, I loved the feeling of getting lost in the noisy maket and finding my way back to the Riad, was always like going through a maze.

All that being said, shopping in the souk can be a little stressful as you have to bargain your way through everything and you never know if you are paying the right price or being cheated! I got a few things at a pretty fair price that  I am going to show you now.. let’s go ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

  1. Makeup Haul

I was so excited to get my hands on the local Berber lipstick and kohl.

The clay like thing you see in the pic above is the Berber lipstick, made of poppy seeds and wax. To use it you moisten it and apply. In the tiny jar next to it is the kohl pigments, you can even buy the stone and scrape of the pigments.

These are Hare Lipsticks which I saw almost everywhere in the souk and finally decided to try them out.

The green one goes on transparent and changes color to peach/ pink depending on the ph of your body. The other goes on sheer plum, I must add they are pleasantly frangranced and are super hydrating and comfortable almost like a tinted lip balm. I love it! I bought two of them for 6 dhirhams that is super cheap.. must buy in Marrakech ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

2. Leather Shoes

I am so proud of this purchase. These are handmade leather shoes, which can be found at the address below:
The guy who fabricates the shoes by himself even showed me his workshop and the designs of numerous custom made shoes that he makes. It takes him around two hours if you choose from the already prepared base.  I highly recommend this place, the guy is really kind and his work is impeccable, i got my pair for 350 Dirhams.

3. Medicinal Herbs and skincare products.

A must do in the souk is to visit the local pharmacy, I found some great herbs for cold and asthma and also mint crystals for sinus.

You will find frangrance blocks in different perfumes musk, amber etc priced at 10 dirham which you can put in your closets for fragrance.

I bought Argan Oil and Black soap( 1 kg for 30 dirhams) I found a really nice shop in the souk, I don’t have the address but it’s easily recognizable as there is a lady always grinding the argan seeds just outside the little shop, the owner is really cool and doesn’t pounce on you to try to sell anything like the others, so you can take your time and shop what you like. It’s a shop where the locals buy their stuff so it’s trustworthy ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Other things

I got these two pieces for 100 dirhams, it’s not silver, but I found them really pretty ๐Ÿ˜

I also got a little metal purse with work done in camel bone for 250 Dirhams.

Though the vendors might be a little too pushy most of the time, they are really polite, just take your timeand don’t let them rush you to buy stuff in the souk. There are many shops that have almost the same things so do a tour around before you buy.

In the square ( at the place Jemma El Fnaa) you will come across ladies who apply mehendi ( I got cheated by one even though it is my third time in marrakech, which really spoilt my mood), don’t get carried away by their sweet tongue, always fix the price before application.

Enjoy the crazy mess ..the organized mess of the souk.. it is beautiful! Don’t forget to take a break for a refreshing glass of Moroccan tea.

See you soon with a makeup look using the Berber makeup I bought in Marrakech!
